I'm planning to send a story into the Seán Ó'Faoláin short story competition - see here. The €15 entry fee would usually put me off but the Munster Literature Centre is respectable.
I don't know whether to send in one I've already finished and polished, or whether to try to finish the one I'm working on at the moment. It could be good when it's ready I think. Slow work though.
